Viktor Gyoker is expected to reach Arsenal this season, and Swedish International has already been impressed by other reasons after arriving at the Emirates
Viktor Gyoker left a strong first impression on his new teammate, Arsenal star Mikel Merino. The Gunners midfielder has high hopes for a £63.5 million striker in North London, and the Swedes already offer it in the training field.
Mikel Arteta finally landed in order to lead the frontline, previously reliant on Kai Herberts and Merino’s converted midfielders. Gyoker has already found Arsenal’s net in the preseason, scoring 54 goals in 52 games the previous term.
While success in Portugal is not guaranteed that the world will be lit up in the Premier League, Merino Spain has been impressed with Gyoker so far. The striker has so far delivered exactly what Merino expected on the pitch.
But then the midfielders are surprised. Gyokeres’ professionalism and how quickly he adapts to life at Arsenal have emerged as a surprise to Merino. “Hopefully I’ve read a lot of goals! That’s what he’s doing,” Merino told TNT Sports when he asked what he expects from his new teammate.

“He’s a great striker, he’s strong, fast and can threaten behind the line, so that’s the main thing in terms of off-field.
“But I’m even more surprised by the things off the pitch. He’s a professional guy, he’s really humble and he’s already ready to adapt and learn. He has his eyes open all the time, so those are good qualities for a striker.”
Merino knows that players and clubs need time to adapt to each other’s strengths. Nevertheless, the Spaniards look forward to Gyoker playing a major role this season.
“With every player on a team, we need to adapt to the principles that the team already has. At the same time, as players, we must adapt to our teammates.
“Obviously, Victor is a very good striker with his own tools and he will be a massive player for us, so we will adapt to his qualities and try to find him in the right place.
“And for him, he will have to adapt to our values, our principles, and I am sure it will be a good relationship there.”
