Mark Guech continues to be a Crystal Palace player for now, but Premier League Champions Liverpool is an English centre-back admirer and has attempted two transfer bids
Liverpool has no plans to return with their third Mark Guech bid after seeing the two approaches being rejected. Crystal Palace plays hardball as captain, and England star Guech is one of the Eagles stars in high demand.
The Palace appears to be determined to retain as many advanced players as possible, as it prepares for its European campaign. Evere Eze continues to be an Arsenal target, but many clubs are known to be fans of Jean Philippe Mateta, and Liverpool is not just a admirer of Guech.
Newcastle and Tottenham made an effort to sign defenders last summer, but he stayed at Selhurst Park and helped the Palace win the FA Cup. Guehi is in the final year of his contract, but it doesn’t see his team entertaining sales at cheap ones.
According to Foot Mercato (via Sports Witness), the Palace still wants nearly £48 million for the skipper. Neither of Liverpool’s two offers have hit that mark, and the Reds are said to be ready to see alternative targets now.
Arne Slot’s side has sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen and still needs the body of the centre-back. Ibrahima Konate has yet to agree to an extension of the current deal, which will expire next summer, but Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez have only two years left in their respective deals.

The Palace and Liverpool are scheduled to face off on Sunday at Community Shield after winning the FA Cup and Premier League in the previous term, respectively. This match offers Guehi an opportunity to remind the league champions of his quality, but he is not expected to force the move.
Oliver Glasner’s side prepared for the match with a double header against Augsburg, winning one meeting and losing the others. Liverpool also had a double header at the beginning of the month, winning both games with Anfield’s Athletic Club.
“The guys are in their best shape. They obviously know the drills. It’s going to be easy,” Palace boss Glasner said after his team’s final friendliness. “Now it’s just a matter of getting a match fit, so they needed 90 minutes of exercise on their feet.
“We were actually planning another friendly match, and now we have a community shield against Liverpool, but of course we are happy to take that.
Liverpool boss slots were impressed with the Reds’ new arrival as they aim to compensate for the departure of things like Trent Alexander Arnold. “We lost a lot of creativity from behind in Trent,” he said after Athletic Friendlies.
“It was very special to choose Trent’s cross and runner. I think Flo (Florian Whartz) has this quality in a completely different position, but he brings that creativity, Hugo (Ekitique) pace, both fullbacks pace, Milos (Kerkez) and Jeremy (Frimon).”
