The Anfield legend is clearly surprised by his club’s heavy summer business and is not keen on the prospect that the Premier League champion is paying record transfer fees for Newcastle strikers
Jamie Carrager urges Liverpool not to spend £150 million on Alexander Isaac, and believes that the club’s summer fuss is “planned.” The Premier League champions have well over £250 million for players this summer, and that figure could quickly cut the £400 million mark if I introduce an offer to increase ISAK on the table.
Among many Liverpool fans, there is excitement at the prospect of the Newcastle striker joining the forward line, including Hugo Ekichike, a £79 million capture from Aintrak Frankfurt. However, Carragher clearly has his reservation, despite him being a large admirer of Isak.
Speaking of the overlap fan discussion brought about by Sky Betting, Karager said: “He (Isaac) will be an incredible signature, but from a fan’s perspective, I don’t want Liverpool to spend £150 million on Isaac.

“I saw Isaac and after Arsenal signed the striker, he obviously threw his toy out on the pram and Liverpool signed the striker, which is a bit nasty now.
“To me, when I think about Liverpool, it doesn’t seem like it’s really planned. I don’t think I’m planning to buy a striker for £80 million and then buy another one for £120 million.
“They have spent a lot of money in terms of what Liverpool did by bringing players in the summer.
Like Ekitike, Liverpool signed Florian Wiltz, Jeremy Fripon and Milos Kerquez, saying they wanted to move to Isaac and Newcastle to Anfield.
And if it overlaps, Paul Scholes believes that unlike Karager, it will be a statement that Isaac signs with Liverpool.
Shoals said:
“But now the ambition is to be the best in Europe and if you bring ISAK to it, he is the best center in the world at this point.
“As a Liverpool fan, you say you’ll feel uncomfortable spending £120 million on him.
“When you win the league, a lot of teams relax, but when we (Manchester United) win the league, we go again.
“We bought Rio Ferdinands, Wayne Rooney, your Belbatov and you bring more quality. Liverpool did that.”
And when asked who would win the 2025-26 Premier League, the Shoals said: “I can’t see past Liverpool, and I think they still need centre halfs.
The Arne Slot champions will begin their new Premier League season with Bournemouth welcome to Anfield on Friday, August 15th.
