The popular Premier League highlight show, the second day match received the brand ahead of the 2025/26 season. A new campaign was launched this weekend, with the departure of Gary Lineker in May driving a series of changes to BBC coverage.
The second day match, previously hosted by Mark Chapman on Sunday night, is also known as Match of the Day, like the BBC’s flagship Saturday Show. Chapman, Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates will spin after Europe’s action, Saturday, Sunday and mid-week leads the report.
MOTD begins on Saturday with the van, with Liverpool vs Bournemouth, Aston Villa vs Newcastle, Tottenham vs Burnley and Wolves vs Man City being billed.
Sunday’s show recapsulates Chelsea vs Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest vs Brentford and the weekend’s main event, Manchester United vs Arsenal.
Chapman is scheduled to host the first Saturday show of the season, airing at 10:20pm. Logan will be conducting Sunday’s episodes from 10:30pm.
But first, Cates will make his on-screen debut as part of the trio when he hosts the Premier League preview show at 11:10pm on Wednesday.

Wayne Rooney has been able to become a prominent fixture as he reportedly signed a match of the day and a £800,000 deal in one of the two critics’ seats this season.
The highlight show enters a new era after the departure of Lineker, who had been a host for 26 years.
Lineker was scheduled to lead the BBC coverage of the 2026 World Cup, but in May it immediately took effect on the company after a string of clashes with the boss.
The 64-year-old moved his exit forward after sharing a post about the current conflict in Gaza, including anti-Semitism symbols.
Reinker then apologised, claiming he had no idea that the image of the rat had been used to portray Jews throughout history.
He later left the BBC and now focuses on his podcast company, Goal Hanger.
Lineker, the top-paid presenter at BBC History, will switch to ITV to host the new Saturday night game show The Box.
All eyes will be firmly played in a new look match on the day curtain rises in another Premier League season this weekend.
