Newcastle striker Alexander Isaac reportedly sees his magpie career as complete and is not going to represent the club again. Swedish International has won the Premier League since joining Newcastle three years ago, but has been deeply tied to his move to Liverpool this summer after he said he wanted to explore the move.
Isak left Real Sociedad to sign Newcastle in 2022, scoring 54 goals in 86 Premier League appearances. He was the second top scorer on the top flight last season and found the back of the net in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final in Liverpool. However, he was removed from the Newcastle team for a preseason tour to Asia due to “minor injuries,” and is now training away from his British teammates.
Isak has another three years left on his contract at St. James Park after first writing a six-year deal with the Northeast Giants.
However, according to Athletics, the 25-year-old doesn’t want to reintegrate into the Magpies team, and he will never play for Newcastle again.
Isak’s point of view is that last summer he informed his employers that the 2024/25 season would be his last campaign at St. James Park. However, some people in Newcastle have denied that those feelings were expressed by players.
The report explains that Isaac told Newcastle boss Eddie Howe his desire to leave the club two weeks before the end of last season, repeating his desire in a call with the British after losing to Everton on the final day of the campaign.
ISAK did not feature in preseason matches this summer. Anthony Gordon led the line ahead of Newcastle’s final friendly and new season as Howe’s side was beaten 2-0 by Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
The Magpie was involved in a transfer fight with Manchester United to capture Benjamin Sesco earlier this summer, but chose to move to Old Trafford, which missed the player’s signature.
And Newcastle may lack the options ahead of time when it travels to Aston Villa on Saturday for its Premier League opener.
Hau was quized about the situation with Isaac following his clash with Atletico.
The former Bournemouth manager explained: “He’s signed with us. He’s our player. The club decides about his future.
“I don’t know what that is. Of course I have a positive outcome. I don’t just want the best and strongest team possible, but I also want a player who really wants to play for this club.”
