Tottenham has begun discussions with Manchester City about its contract with Savinho. The Spurs are in the market to attack the enhancement after missing out on some top targets in recent weeks. And their move towards wingers is now moving forward.
Thomas Frank was keen to reunite with Brentford’s Duo Bryan Mbeumo and Joane Wissa in north London this summer, but the former joins Manchester United, while the latter appears to be Newcastle Bound.
As a result, alternative options have been identified, and Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs has held a club talk with the club and City to discuss the contract to sign Savinho. Currently, negotiations are underway between the two sides, and the winger is open to join Tottenham if it can reach an agreement.
Frank revealed that the Spurs’ higher powers felt that Savigno was the “ideal player” on his part. Openness to new challenges at 21 means that personal terms aren’t an issue.
The Brazilian joined the city last summer on a deal worth £30.8 million from his sister club Girona, and Pep Guardiola’s side is keen to make money at the forward given his potential. Prices for the £43 million region are being discussed.
Savigno scored three goals in all competitions last season and assisted 11 times. His tally was more impressive, sometimes when he showed greater calm in the final third.
Given that Morgan Gibbs White’s £60 million move in Nottingham Forest collapsed last month, the £43 million fee is within Tottenham’s reach.
Further reinforcements are expected to arrive at Hotspur Stadium in Tottenham over the coming weeks, with not only another defensive signature being ruled out, but the midfielder as well. s
Purn welcomed Mohammed Kudus to the ranks, offering alternative options in the final third, with Joao Palhinha joining the club on a loan agreement from Bayern Munich.
It is still unclear whether Savinho is the latest star to commit faith to Frank’s project, or whether City ultimately decided to place his faith on a tricky winger and intrigued him.
