Son Heung-Min chose to leave Tottenham and join LAFC, but heading to MLS on the record switch wasn’t his first option, but he was convinced he would move
Tottenham’s former captain son Hong Min confessed that LAFC was not “my first choice” as the Koreans called time in his decade in North London. My son wasn’t enough for his offer this summer, but he chose to move on to MLS. LAFC spending is shy at £20 million, a record-breaking fee for American clubs.
The 33-year-old decided that both he and the Spurs should embark on a new era this summer after Tottenham returned to a Europa League victory in May. Initially, he was not sold on a move to the US, but chatting with the general manager of LAFC helped him turn his head.

“I’m so happy to meet all the fans in Korea. I was in the game and I wanted to see you support me like crazy and run on the pitch and perform.”
His son emphasizes his desire to deliver in California, and his Los Angeles outfit also boasts of his former Tottenham teammate Hugo Loris among their foreign imports.
“I win and play here. I’ll definitely show you something exciting… do we call it soccer or soccer?
His son scored 173 goals for Tottenham and helped him reach the Champions League in 2019. He was also the only Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boots, and LAFC welcomed his arrival. Their co-president and general manager said:
“His ambitions, abilities and character are perfectly in line with our values at LAFC. I’m proud that he chose Los Angeles for the next chapter of his extraordinary career. Sony is a proven winner, a world-class individual and I’m sure we will elevate the club and stimulate the community.”
My son recently cut off emotional appearances in his last Tottenham appearance. He walked to the guards of honor before crying on the bench, but claimed it was the right time.
“It felt like I gave it all, but I felt that a new challenge was needed and I chose LAFC. I’m old, but I still have good physicality and I still have good quality,” he said.
