Liverpool became Wembley’s loser as Crystal Palace came from behind and won the Community Shield. The Reds were a massive favorite heading for the fixture, but were beaten on a penalty after a very entertaining match. The game began somewhat spoiled by a minute of silence to remember Diogo Jota being interrupted by screaming at the fans.

While the game was ongoing, Liverpool went on quickly and only needed four minutes to open up a score via Hugo Ekitike. But their advantages were short-lived, but their advantages were short-lived as Jean-Philippe Mateta pulled the quick equalizer back from the penalty spot. Jeremie Frimpong sailed everyone out of Liverpool’s lead and recovered the lead on a cross located in the corner of the net.

It seemed the Reds would keep holding on to win, but Ismaila Sah fought back for the palace with only 13 minutes left. The Underdog was then denied another penalty cry when Alexis Mac Allister handled the ball despite watching the incident.

No further targets arrived before the final whistle. In other words, a penalty was required to determine the winner. Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott missed it all before Justin Debney filled the Eagles’ definitive spot kick.

Express Sports Rates Liverpool players in today’s game…

Liverpool Player Rating vs Crystal Palace

Allison Becker-6

I made an excellent stop to deny Mateta from close range before being sent the wrong way out of the penalty spot. I made a few big saves in the second half. He was not a guilty member of Sarr equalizer.

Jeremie Frimpong -7

A close-angle cross landed behind the net and scored. It worked tirelessly at each end of the pitch, covering every grass blade on its right flank. Powerful display.

Ibrahima Conate-6

For most games, it looked comfortable in the back. He used his mobility to wipe out the counterattack and began to move with his progressive pass. It was right.

Virgil Van Dijk -4

He gave him a penalty for Sarr’s clumsy challenge. The same player lost his focus to get the same player to get an equalizer in the second half. There were obstacles to both goals. This means he can get a rating based on his shirt number.

Milos Kerquez-5

I had a hard time dealing with Daniel Munoz’s pace. He made some strong forward runs, but was largely limited to his defensive obligations. There’s room for improvement.

Curtis Jones-5

It was relatively quiet and blended into most of the game’s background, but completed all the passes. I did the basics well without setting the world.

Dominique Zobosilai-6

Without Lian Grain Belch, he did well in his new, deeper role. He maintained the situation carved into his smooth passes and helped defend him when necessary. Not bad at all.

Florian Wirtz -8

He got Ekitike’s early goal assist and created plenty of opportunities for the Reds. I was impressed by his clever touches, quick feet and tidy passes. Very good display before he took off.

Mohamed Sarah-4

I struggled to get into the game and only touched the ball in the opening 37 minutes. Before burning a spot kick on the crossbar, they missed a golden chance to win Liverpool’s game on the closing stage. poor.

Cody Gakpo -6

It’s unlucky to not score in an early exchange when he’s rejected by a great save. He worked so hard to make things happen, but sometimes he was disappointed with his decisions.

Hugo Ekitike -7

Don’t waste your time making an instant impact with a stunning goal. It was the focus of the offense and connected well with his teammates, but missed two major opportunities that eventually returned to haunt Liverpool.

Alternatives

Wataru End-6

He replaced Curtis Jones and spent the last 20 minutes. The basics worked but hardly noticed.

Alexis Mac Allister -5

It was introduced in place of Hugo Ekitike. I was lucky when I handled the ball in the final stage without giving me a penalty before missing a spot kick in a shootout.

Harvey Elliott -n/a

A late addition. It was among those who missed Liverpool’s penalties.

Andy Robertson-n/a

A late addition.
