Mikel Arteta warned the opposing team that Viktor Gyoker could “destroy” after Viktor Gyoker scored Arsenal’s first goal in a 3-0 victory at the Athletic Club.

Gyoker scored for the Emirates with a strong header in the first half as they ended the preseason in the way the Gunners won.

This was the club’s first goal for Swedish International after continuing a £64 million move from Sports CP, with an alternative look against the Tottenham Hotspur and its first start with Villarreal.

“That initial goal is always very important,” said Arsenal manager Arteta. “The way he photographed it really worked.”

When asked about the hunger of the 27-year-old trying to score a goal, Arteta replied. “That’s his nature.

“Everything he does, his movements, his timing, how he fantasizes the next move, there’s space. That’s his instinct. So he’s scored so many goals over the past few seasons.”

The Arsenal boss added:

“We have players who can score goals in any situation.”

Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s lead and went home to the empty net after being teeed up by Gabriel Martinelli.

Kai Havertz ran through the goal, held out a defender and completed the score late as he packed the house into the lower right corner.

When Fit, Hubert was Arsenal’s main striker last season and despite the arrival of Gjoker, Arteta believes there is still a place on the German side.

“They can play together,” Arteta said. “Kai can also play in a variety of positions.

“I think it will increase the quality of the team, the threat of the goals that the team has, the options that we have to change and oppose a lot of issues.

“It’s great to both score points. Both are in such a good form, and that’s a good question.”

The victory means Arsenal won three of the five preseason fixtures, as well as AC Milan and Newcastle United.

However, it was their first victory in three times, following a loss to the Spurs and Villarreal.

They launched their Premier League campaign next Sunday, travelling to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

“The Game I’ll Never Forget” – Return to “Emotional” and Return to United

David De Gere said Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United “will never forget the game.” The Spanish goalkeeper returned to Old Trafford two years after leaving the club.

De Gea stayed with United for 12 years in 2023, maintaining 190 clean sheets with 545 appearances.

The 34-year-old was the first player to warm up on Saturday, receiving a standing ovation from Old Trafford, just as he did at the start of the game and when he was replaced.

“It’s a game I’ll never forget,” DeGia said.

“It can be hard to see the crowd and explain in words how you feel on the pitch, to all the people there. That was so emotional for me.”

United endured last season’s worst Premier League campaign, finishing 15th, before finishing eighth in the season following DeGia’s departure.

However, the Spaniard is optimistic that things will turn around on his previous side.

“I know it’s been a few years since United struggled a little,” DeGear said. “But it’s one of the best clubs in the world.

“It’s a big club and I hope that with new signatures and managers starting a new era this year, they can do something big.

Simon Sohm opened up Fiorentina’s score at Old Trafford on Saturday, just eight minutes before Robbingusens’ own goal leveled the match midway through the opening period.

Neither side could find a winner for the remaining 65 minutes of the contest, but it was United who scored 5-4 in the subsequent penalty shootout.

New signing Benjamin Sesco was presented to home fans before kickoff after completing his move on Friday, along with fellow rookies Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo who started the match.

As a result, United are undefeated in five preseason games, but they won in a victory over West Ham United and Bournemouth, previously facing Leeds United and Everton.
