Eddie Howe provided a fresh update on the situation for Alexander Isaac after being excluded from the Newcastle squad against Atletico Madrid. The Wataway striker was nowhere to be seen when Magpie slid to lose in the final season’s friendly. He is eager to join Liverpool. Liverpool saw a £110 million bid rejected by Newcastle earlier this month.
The powers at St. James Park are determined to hold Isaac until the summer of 2028 when the forwards are tied up. According to the Telegraph, he has been informed that despite his wishes, he will not be selling this summer. Isaac was exiled from the force until he agreed with his fate, but is said to have been “enthusiastic.”
After the final whistle on Saturday, Howe was quized in those reports, saying, “No, that’s not what I’m aware of. I don’t know that. I want a player who really wants to play for this club.”
Howe added that it would be helpless to prevent Isaac from being sold if the Newcastle powers feel it was the best course of action.
“It’s a decision I won’t do and it’s going to be something other people will make,” he said. “For me, I’m just trying to manage the situation and manage the team, and the most important thing is to manage a group of players that work every day.
“I love coaching and supporting. We’re focused on Aston Villa. From my perspective, everything else isn’t in my control, so that’s not my focus.”
Isak has been training alone since returning to Newcastle earlier this week. According to the Daily Mail, he arrived as if the remaining forces left after “Family Day”, from which the Swedes were excluded.
Prior to the match against Atletico Madrid, Hau explained that it was wrong to involve Isaac, but suggested that he could still have a future on the Tyneside.
“We discussed it, but it’s clear that he can’t get involved in the group,” said the Newcastle boss. “I don’t know how long that will last. It’s clear that at this point we can’t get him into the team.
“He trains later than the rest of the teams. There has been debate since the tour. I don’t think there has been any disciplinary action.
“He’s here, so of course he has a future in Newcastle. From our perspective, we want him to go back with the team, but the situation needs to be right for that to happen.
“He has no fitness issues. I feel that there are some of the teams that don’t benefit from the group.”
