Manchester United concluded their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw with Old Trafford’s Fiorentina. Eight days before Arsenal was welcomed to Manchester, there were a lot of positives for Reuben Amorim to take.
Concerns about the opening goal saw that in just eight minutes Simon Sohm was given freedom in a penalty area to turn from the corner. But United could have worked well after that early accident and won the game. Renee Yolo’s pressure in the set piece prompted her own goal from Robin Gosense after Red Devils legend David De Gere was captured.
The main attraction was the first Old Trafford outing against United’s new signature. Prior to kickoff, Brian Mbeumo, Matthews Kuña and Benjamin Sesco paraded for the first time in front of fans. Mbeumo and Cunha started, and Sesko was given a holiday after completing her move from RB Leipzig this morning.
See how Express Sports evaluated the United players below…
Altay Bayindir -6
Bayindir did nothing to prevent Fiorentina’s goal.
Rennie Yoro-6
Yoro’s pressure forced a goal from Gosen. Otherwise he would have been completely capable of his death.
Harry Maguire-6
Maguire may lose his place due to the perfectly fit Matigis de Rig that comes at the start of the season, but he is always an excellent option for United. He seemed attracted to the ball ahead of Fiorentina’s goal, but his clever routine also caught most of the United players.
Aiden Heaven-7
Heaven certainly gets plenty of game time this season. He is impressive, tackle-resistant and excellent at ball.
Amad Diallo -7
Amado sometimes struggled with the right-wing backing, but today he seemed certain. He linked very well with Mbeumo.
Patrick Dorgue-7
Dolgue is running a fantastic campaign. The January signature is set to thrive on the left side as he hone his offensive abilities during the preseason.
Bruno Fernandez-6
Fernandez concluded the preseason with an assist. The United captain played well, but doubt remains about his ability to play in deeper midfield roles.
Casemiro -7
Casemiro played an amazing game alongside Fernandez. He was short and sharp after his death, preventing Fiorentina from a dangerous attack.
Bryan Mbeumo -7
Mason Mount-5
Mount needs to worry about whether the central role is how Amorim sees his future. England International had a hard time getting into the game, and Mbeumo and Cunha had done most of the good work around him.
Matheus Cunha -6
Cunha gave a glimpse of quality throughout the game. He frequently linked to Dorg.
