Chelsea were penultimate season friendly with German side Bayer Leberkusen on Friday night, and one of Enzo Maresca’s summer signatures certainly caught the eye of Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fans welcomed the “real superstar” Estebao Willian after Wonder Kid’s dream began his life at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian officially completed his move to West London earlier this summer after signing a £29 million deal with Palmeiras.
And while 18 years old had to spend time, the wait was certainly worth it. Estevao’s starting lineup on Friday evening was due to Enzo Maresca’s side facing German Bayer Leverkusen in a penultimate summer season clash.
He found himself on the scoresheet just 20 minutes after the game. Cole Palmer was initially nearby, but then hit the crossbar.
The ball fell to Estevao at the far post and he did an easy job tapping the house. He was a celebration and kissed the Chelsea badge in the process.
Estebao stayed on the pitch until the 77th minute of the tie before replacing it with Genesis Antwi. Chelsea fans joined social media to praise the youth and his performance.

Many Chelsea fans have backed Estebao for a bright future after seeing their debut outing. A fan of Bruce also said: “Estebao is a year younger than Tyrique George. Estebao appears to be more experienced and poised than him. We have a real superstar in the guy in our hands.”
The final supporter added: “Chelsea have a team! The Gitens and Estevan are pure pace, skill and excitement. The future at Stamford Bridge looks bright!”

Chelsea ultimately overcame Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge 2-0 – Estebao’s Brazilian compatriot Joa Opedronette secured the victory in the 90th minute. Chelsea’s next mission will face AC Milan on Sunday ahead of the Premier League opening match against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca vowed not to expect much from the young star ahead of his debut campaign. He said: “When we played against Palmeiras, I was the first time in America to meet him. He’s a great player. He’s a very young, happy boy and he’s always laughing. It’s typical for the Brazilian. We want him to make him happy.
“With him, we need to be a little more careful (more than any other signatures) because first of all, he comes from another part of the world and he is very young.
“He needs to adapt and hopefully he can give him the minutes to make him even happier. But certainly he’s a talented player.”
