Alejandro Garnacho is one of the Manchester United players expected to leave before the transfer window closes, and potential suitor Chelsea appears to have made a breakthrough
Chelsea took a step closer to Alejandro Garnacho’s landing. It is understood that Bruce has agreed to an agreement with the Manchester United winger, but they have yet to find a common basis with United on transfer fees.
Garnacho is a favorite at Old Trafford, and Reuben Amorim added Matteus Cunya and Brian Mbeumo to his offensive options after dropping out at No. 17. Argentina was left at home, but the Red Devils went to the US for the preseason, but he was hoping to leave by the deadline.
Garnacho is eager to move to Stamford Bridge and has made Chelsea his first choice this summer, so the 21-year-old agreed to personal terms. However, of course, nothing will be counted without a fee agreement.
United’s asking price is £50 million, which seems too sudden for Bruce at the time of writing. There was a proposal that the Red Devils might pursue a partial exchange deal that involves Garnacho and Nicholas Jackson, but their move to Benjamin Sesco appears to have ended those conversations.
The asking price is lower than in January when Chelsea and Napoli were keen on Garnacho. Since then, Winger’s stock has fallen as it has become clear that Amorim doesn’t consider him a regular starter.

“Along with Garnacho, I think you can understand and you can see that he is talented, he is a truly talented boy,” Amorim said early in the summer. “But sometimes things don’t work and you can’t explain exactly what it is.
“But I have the feeling that Garnacho wants something different with different leadership and can understand it — and I can understand it. So I don’t think that’s the problem. Sometimes you adapt to one man and you have a connection.
United have already offloaded other members of their so-called “bomb squad,” and Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on a seasonal loan. England International was able to permanently move to Camp Nou if Barca held the option if they made an impression during the campaign.
The club hopes to offload Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia after the trio was loaned out last season. Real Betis remains keen to keep Antony in Seville after being impressed there in the previous period, but Sancho has attracted interest from Serie A despite Chelsea opting for a permanent dive a year at Stamford Bridge.
United will play their final preseason friendly at Fiorentina’s home on Saturday before launching their Premier League campaign with Arsenal. Chelsea don’t have Garnacho in time for a friendly match between Bayer Lebakusen and AC Milan this weekend, but he was able to arrive in time for the league opening match against Crystal Palace.
