Manchester United are keen on Brighton midfielder Carlos Valleva, but the highly rated Cameroonian star is also courted by Manchester City after the 2024-25 star
Carlos Valeva is being courted by Manchester City and Manchester United amid speculation that the Brighton midfielder could travel with a massive transfer fee this summer.
Baleba, 21, was a wise acquisition of Brighton, which revived the Cameroonian star for £23.2 million in the summer of 2023. Unfortunately for the Seagull, the midfielder’s impressive performance on the South Coast has not been noticed by Premier League rivals.
Earlier this week it was revealed that United had contacted Brighton through an intermediary to register his interest in Baleva.
However, it is clear that now United are likely to face important competition in the competition for Valeva’s signature from their arch rival Manchester City.
ESPN outlines that city manager Pep Guardiola is a longtime admirer of Baleba and has made 34 appearances in the top flights last season.

Brighton doesn’t sell one of its main players cheaply, but the city’s interest in signing Valeva could pose a major hurdle for United.
The same outlet claims that Brighton will require a relocation fee of 120 million euros (£104 million) to sanction the sale to one of Baleva’s suitors this summer.
And Brighton’s demands make it difficult for United to fund Beleba’s swoosh dive at this transfer window as the Red Devils are ready to sign Benjamin Sesco in a total of £74 million deal, including add-ons.
On the Baleba side, players are said to be completely satisfied with staying at Brighton for another year if they don’t have the chance to move before the September 1 deadline doesn’t come to fruition.
United will focus on their exit after confirming their contract with Sesco, which will officially receive club medical care and signing on Friday. Many players, including Alejandro Garnacho, are considered surplus in their requirements, and additional funds raised from players’ transactions could open the door to further incoming calls.
Chelsea was interested in signing Ghanacho and began consultations with United with the aim of attacking the Argentine international agreement. Jadon Sancho and Antony are two other players who have no future in Old Trafford and are free to go if the suitor reaches an agreement with United for their services.
