Mikel Arteta warned Arsenal’s Premier League rivals that if new signing Victor Gyoker lets him “destroy them.” The £64 million recruit from the sport scored his first Gunners goal in a friendly preseason victory over the Athletic Club on Saturday, with fans hoping to follow more.
Gyoker would have sighed Ah Relief as he headed for Martin Zubimendi’s cross and moved Arsenal ahead in the 34th minute. Bukayo Saka and Kai Herberts goals gave Arsenal a comfortable 3-0 victory and the best victory against Manchester United in the Premier League opener the following weekend.
Liverpool and Manchester City are two main contenders for Scopper Arsenal’s title run this season. However, Arteta informs them, and all other aspects cannot be taken lightly by the gunners standing up and the threat posed by the gyoker.
“Everything he does is instinct,” explained the Arsenal boss. “So he’s scored so many points over the past few seasons. It’s a goal, he’s a threat, he’s pinning the centre-back and he’s going to destroy you if you leave him in space 1V1.”
