Premier League champions, Liverpool will face FA Cup winner Crystal Palace, with all eyes coming in a wave of Arneslot’s sides and new signatures.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Newcastle United superstar Alexander Isaac will become part of that setup, but the business Liverpool already has been widely praised.
The business has led to wonder if the Reds are an approaching conclusion to win the title again.
After all, this is the team that scored 10 points in the Premier League last season, and is the best tally of four seasons.
It’s often a fool’s business to hand the title to a club before the ball gets kicked in anger, but it’s worth looking into the business that’s been done by other candidates and seeing how they’ve closed the gap.
But first, Liverpool.
Champion: Will Rich be rich?
They also have Giorgi Mamardashvili after spending their time back at former club Valencia last season.
Lewis Diaz, Jarrell Kuansa, Kaoimhin Keleher, Tyler Morton and Trent Alexander Arnold all set out. The club also tragically lost Diogo Jota, who died in a car accident early in the summer.
Wirtz was one of the world’s best young players in the past few seasons, and was supposed to go to Bayern Munich or follow former manager Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid.

It is also worth highlighting what he can bring as a scorer now. In his final two seasons under Alonso, Wirtz scored 34 goals in all competitions – 23 in the previous three and a little seasons. It was a massive development for him.
And that’s important because it’s important for Liverpool to find more goals. Last season, only double digit players were in double digits in all competitions.
One of them (Diaz) is gone and Mohamed Salah remains one of the best scoring wingers in Premier League history, but he cannot rely on him forever.
Simply put, the best things have gotten so much better. But what about the rest?
Tracking Pair: Good, but enough?

It’s clear that both of these teams are getting stronger – otherwise they claim to be stupid – but are they strong enough?
City still has a rather large hole in the right back where Tino Librament can fill, but what happens if either Omar Marmash or Erling Haaland gets injured? Does the city have sufficient goals?
That’s the same story as Arsenal. This is the best team they’ve had under Mikel Arteta, and there’s no doubt about it. But it would be good to look at another goalscoring option on the left field.
It could be Noni Maduke, but he has always been a more right-handed player in his career. Like cities, if they suffer serious injuries, can they find a target from sufficient sources?
Chelsea: Are you still ready?
But the briefings coming out of the club are about slowing things down and still looking to the top four.
While Chelsea are clearly on the right path, the challenge this season feels as if the year is too early.
Recover Tracking Pack: Right direction, wrong time
Magpies are in the Champions League, but I’m not going to talk about Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion. There wasn’t enough business (or business in fact) to make it seem possible that the gap with Liverpool could be closed down.

It was a truly encouraging start and now we need to get the opportunity to properly evaluate Reuben Amorim, but like Tottenham, it feels like they are probably away from another window.

So, what have we learned? Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Mann UTD all improved this summer and are significantly better than the season has passed.
But the problem with all of those is that Liverpool has also gotten even better. At best, the tracking pack maintains a gap. In the worst case, it expanded. Don’t forget that there’s been a 10-point gap in makeup since last season.
There’s still time in the transfer window for someone else to make one or two massive moves, but again, the problem is that if you sign ISAK, someone can become Liverpool.
