Gianluigi donnarumma is reportedly keen on the move to Manchester United, with Paris Saint-Germain on the brink of signing a new shot stopper.
The Italian goalkeeper, who contributed to PSG’s recent victory, made 47 appearances last season, helping the French giants secure the Champions League, League 1 and Coupede France titles.
However, his contract is set to expire in 2026, and negotiations for an extension that appears to be stagnant could be on the way out of Paris. According to L’Equipe, PSG has signed a deal to bring in Lucas Chevalier, the Lille, for a fee of £35 million, with the exception of the bonus.
The report says PSG aims to close the move before the European Super Cup match against Tottenham on August 13th. As a result, Donnarumma appears poised to depart from Paris this summer, with TeamTalk reporting that United “officially registered their interest.”
Things can change despite the Red Devils admitting that the deal is currently “very difficult.” Donnarumma is reportedly interested in joining UTD due to the club’s fame, despite not participating in the Champions League next season and recovering from the worst Premier League finish.
Now United’s top choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has faced criticism since her move in 2023 following a prominent impulse from Inter Milan. When asked about his future earlier this summer, Onana replied: “Will I leave? I don’t know, we will see!”
However, Reuben Amorim has shown confidence in improving Onana this season. “I think you can see the goalkeeper even when you talk about Andre.
“Even Tom (Heaton) is a different goalkeeper. Altai (Bay Indeal) has really worked out. Like the rest of this year, Onana will be better.
“Nutrition is better, how we cook, what we eat, how we prepare for training. I think we are more organized. I think we have people now who will help us get better.
“So they help us and help us think more about watching the game, watching the team. So that’s a big help for me. When it’s a big help for the technical staff, it’s a big help for the players.”
