Lewis Diaz has completed his transition from Liverpool to Bayern Munich, but paid tribute to former teammate Diogo Jota as he continues to deal with his tragic death
After choosing to leave and pursue a new challenge with Bayern Munich, Louis Diaz insists he will “follow forever” his time at Liverpool.
The Germans finally landed the Colombians on a deal worth £65 million. Bayern had seen their opening offer being rejected by the Reds, but now they have moved across the line and end the winger’s spell at Anfield.
Diaz was signed by Jurgen Klopp in January 2022, and the former Port man had an immediate impact. He leaves Liverpool as the Premier League winner, but there were no signs of future talks on the horizon when his contract ended and the players chose to head to the German champions.
In an Exguchi statement, he paid tribute to the Reds and gave special praise to former teammate Diogo Jota, who died tragically in a recent car accident.
Diaz said on social media: “I will cherish forever three and a half years. I have arrived with all the dreams of the world and am proud of everything we have achieved together.

“Liverpool is certainly a special team and I have everyone in mind. The cycle ends here and I am so happy to see how happy we are and realize it. Not only for the trophies we won, but also for the unions and friendships that made it all possible.
“It’s good to satisfy a sense of duty and leave the champion above all else. As we said, I say, I repeat, especially as I carry everyone with me, but I will never forget him.
Diaz bolsters attacks, including Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala, but the latter faces a long spell on the bystander.
CEO Jan-Christian Dresen paid tribute to Liverpool for how they acted during the transfer discussion when they landed Sadio Mane a few years ago. He said: “We would like to thank Liverpool for always having fair and serious negotiations.”
