Manchester United have put together Brian Mbemo’s signature last week on deals worth up to £71 million, with Reuben Amorim’s side moving on to the next priority target
New Manchester United star Brian Mbemo has already approved the move for Ollie Watkins, who could already become the Red Devils’ own Mosala. Watkins, 29, played alongside Mbeumo for then-championship side Brentford in the 2019-20 season.
The pair scored a total of 40 goals as the bees lost as they narrowly missed promotion to the Premier League and lost the playoff final to Fulham. Mirror Football understands Watkins has become a top target for Red Devils in pursuit of a new striker, so United wants to reunite the duo.
Aston Villa personally claims that Watkins is not sold at any price, but United believes they can trade between £40 million and £45 million. This would be significantly less than the £71 million that Reuben Amorim’s side agreed to pay Mbeumo to Brentford earlier this month.
The 25-year-old is a huge Watkins fan and compared it to Sara in an interview with Sky Sports in 2020. It also included the Brentford front 3 from that time.
“Roberto Firmino, I said he was a very attacking and a good finisher,” Mbeumo explained. “I think it’s hard to say who is who in Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, but I’m probably going to be Mane and Ollie will be Salah.”

Watkins agreed with the comparison, saying, “They are incredibly the best in the world, and it’s good to be constantly compared to players of that height.
That summer, Brentford sold Watkins to Villa for deals worth up to £33 million, and he scored 87 goals in five seasons. England International’s track record in the Premier League has led him to the top of United’s list of contenders.

However, the Red Devils have alternatives, such as Benjamin Sesco and Randall Colomani. Sales are important in completing any striker’s transactions. United have yet to remove most of Amorim’s five “bomb squads” who have not competed in the US preseason tour.
Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan with the option to buy while Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia remained at the club. The Old Trafford chief is also open to selling Inter Milan’s target, Rasmus Hoilund, before turning his eyes to Palma striker Ange Joan Bonnie.
