Liverpool had a clause in their transfer agreement with Sheffield United for five years, but unfortunately, they didn’t pay off in the end as Red didn’t receive the boost.
Liverpool missed a handy cash blowout after former player Leanne Brewster left Sheffield United. The forward signed Derby County earlier this week after not agreeing to a new contract with Blade ahead of another season in the Championship.
Brewster left Bramal Lane after being featured 42 times last season with Sheffield United before signing a two-year contract with the Rams. The 25-year-old has just nine goals in 119 appearances for the Yorkshire side and has joined the derby team that has already signed strikers for Luton Town and Charlotte FC Carlton Morris and Patrick Aggieman in recent weeks.
The striker was offered fresh conditions from United, who took part in 2020, but instead opted to move to the Midlands. As a result, Liverpool missed the opportunity to rave about cash.
When Brewster joined Sheffield United on a £23.5 million contract, the Reds assured them they would be protected with the successes they even found. The Anfield team includes two provisions in the transfer agreement, and the former Chelsea Academy ace has departed.
As part of the Blade club record fee, they were also reaffirmed to agree to the sale and buyback clause. Liverpool inserted the ability to watch Brewster return to Merseyside.

The Reds also guaranteed that 15% AA sales since the clause were in place, but Brewster left Sheffield United for free, unfortunately not being rewarded. Nevertheless, the former Liverpool forward has found another opportunity to prove himself.
“I’m so happy to be part of this incredible club,” Brewster said after joining the derby. “It was busy, but after talking to all the boys and managers and things like that, it was easy.
“I feel that this is a great opportunity for me, and it was something I had to hold with both hands, hopefully I can show that this year.
“I know that Ben Osborne is playing with England at Sheffield United and Kane Wilson at a youth level. For me, the project that John Eustace started was not too easy for me to get involved.
“There’s a lot to do. There’s a point to prove. I feel like I can always get better no matter how old you are. There’s always something to learn. I think it’s going to happen here that our managers, staff and players have helped me.”
