Manchester United legend Gary Neville shares his thoughts on the club’s transfer business this summer, with Matthews Cunya and Brian Mbeumo taking part in the big money deal.
Gary Neville welcomed Manchester United’s transfer business this summer, but warned that there are still two problem areas that need to be strengthened. United are spending heavily on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, diverging around £133.5 million to two attackers.
United struggled with goals last season, with only Everton and three-oriented aspects managing Premier League goals more than 44. However, the addition of Cunha and Mbeumo should provide a big boost that reached 35 between them.
Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan after being frozen by manager Reuben Amorim. Reuben Amorim wants to offload after seeing Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and others as requirements.
And Neville so far thinks United’s move is a good sign ahead of next season. However, the club wants to sign a new goalkeeper and a new striker before the transfer window closes.
“Over the last 10 or 11 years, Manchester United have accepted positions where they have made mistakes in the transfer market or recruitment or have held players too long,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“What’s going on now is that Reuben Amorim is identifying players he doesn’t want on his team, and it seems he’s kicking them out. It’s positive, and on paper I like the signing of Cunha and Mbeumo.
“Why do I like them? They have Premier League experience. They look like Manchester United style.
“When I look at Garnacho, I think Sancho and Antony are working in more jinkers, smaller spaces, and I always felt that United needed a player who could really expand their teams by opening their legs.
“One other thing I like about these two signatures is that I haven’t yet proved myself at the highest level when it comes to club levels in the Premier League and club levels in Europe.
“That hunger hasn’t always been there for the past decade with players who have come to the club. They’re probably a more completed article and we’re excited about them, but they may not have had that despair.
“I always feel like players need hunger. They need to despair to feel that is the most important thing in the game. I think these two young people who signed have it. I think the two signatures are good signatures.
“There are a few more needs. I think we need a goalkeeper and a centre forward. If we can fill these two positions with a decent signature, United can have it.
