Since the division was introduced in 1992, around 5,000 players have been featured in the Premier League. But you need more than your ability to thrive on top flights in England with just the legendary status of the highest revenue.

Before the new campaign begins, Express Sports ranks nine great players who have adorned the Premier League…

8. Stephen Gerrard

It can be easily argued that Stephen Gerrard is the best Premier League player who has never won a league title. He was desperately unlucky, and his infamous slip against Chelsea ruined his best chance to lift the iconic trophy.

However, given that he has all the attributes needed for a world-class midfielder, his abilities could not be questioned. Gerrard was also a key figure in helping Liverpool win the Champions League, the UEFA Cup and seven other national tournaments.

7. Ryan Giggs

It’s no surprise that Ryan Giggs created this list and represented United for almost a quarter century. Meanwhile, he won an astounding 13 league titles, the Champions League and countless domestic trophies.

Giggs could be argued that given the wealth of talent United had over the years, Giggs was not the best player on his team. But if he wasn’t enough to be there, he wouldn’t have stayed at Old Trafford for 23 seasons.

6. Kevin de Bruin

Kevin de Bruin is the best midfielder the Premier League has ever seen, earning 111 assists between him at Manchester City. He was the heartbeat of the team and he would have struggled to win many titles without pulling the string.

His start to his life in the Premier League was calm, with the Belgian swinging at Chelsea early in his career. He has become an urban legend, but they struggle to find another playmaker with the same level of quality.
