Benjamin Sesco is on the verge of leaving RB Leipzig, despite interest from Newcastle. The Red Devils added an additional £8.7 million (€10 million) in addition to a bid of £65.3 million (€75 million) to secure Sesco’s services. Newcastle presented Leipzig with a more appealing offer, but Sesco’s preferences are thought to play a key role in his decision.
Sesko has been training this week separately from the rest of the Leipzig squad this week in the ongoing negotiations about his future, and the club confirmed that the 22-year-old boy is continuing his training on his own on Wednesday morning.
Leipzig released a brief update saying, “Wednesday Squad Update: Andrija Maximovic is back in Leipzig, but today we are training individually. Benjamin Sesco and Lucas Klosterman are also working individually.”
As United approaches Sesco, Rasmus Hozilund’s position at Old Trafford looks increasingly unstable. Despite Hojlund’s determination to maintain his position and compete, United appears willing to accept the losses on his sale this summer.
The man reported Wednesday that he agreed that if Sesco’s transfer was made, United could be locked out.
“My plan is very clear and I think it’s to stay and fight for my spot. No matter what happens, I’m still very young,” Hojlund said in a discussion about his future in the US.
“Obviously not all strikers score 100 goals at age 22 (like Erling Haaland). But I’ve learned a lot and I think you can see it in my game.
“It’s just that I sharpen myself right now, and I’ve done really well in the preseason so far, and I’m focused on continuing to do that.
“Competition is fine for me. It makes me sharp. I’m ready. I feel sharp, so I welcome everything coming. I think competition is good.
United will attack the astounding £200 million expenditures this summer by seizing Matthews Cunha and Brian Mbeumo a whopping £127.5 million and sealing off Sesco’s contract.
If Sesko’s signature wins green light, Ruben Amorim has completely revamped the frontline in one transfer window, following a campaign in which United’s target tally stood at just 44 in the Premier League.
Additionally, United are keen to strengthen their midfield ranks before the summer transfer window closes.
