Liverpool has boosted transfer funds ahead of Alexander Isaac’s second potential bid. The Reds have confirmed that Tyler Morton has joined Lyon in a deal worth up to £15 million.
The defensive midfielder was with his hometown club for 16 years. However, after signing his first senior contract in 2021, he managed 14 first-team appearances in the loan spells at Blackburn and Hull. He was impressed by England’s under 21 years of age in his victory at the European Championship this summer, causing an approach from the League One side.
The 22-year-old’s move will only help Arne Slot pursue ISAK. Liverpool has already received a bid of £110 million, and the add-on was rejected by Newcastle and with increased expectations.
Their Premier League rivals are said to be demanding £150 million from the marquee striker. The Reds have so far refused to match that demand, but after reportedly making strikers uneasy, they now have £15 million.
Anfield is expected to sell more players. Darwin Nunes and Harvey Elliott are both expected to leave, with the Uruguayan striker linking with AC Milan and Saudi clubs.
Liverpool still has time to close the club’s record deal. The transfer window will not close until 7pm on Monday, September 1st, but the 2025/26 season is officially underway on Sunday with Community Shield.
Isaac did not travel to Newcastle’s pre-season Asia tour. However, the 25-year-old reported on training this week after having a session with his former club, Real Sociedad, to maintain his fitness.
It remains to be seen whether Swedish International will play any role in Newcastle’s final two preseason games this weekend. Eddiehau’s side plays Espanyol and Atletico Madrid played before their trip to Aston Villa in the Premier League opening match on August 16th.
