West Ham and Brazilian star Lucas Paketa are permitted to allegations of violating the FA betting rules and Hammer boss Graham Potter.
West Ham boss Graham Potter believes Lucas Paketa remains committed to Hammer after the betting charges have been resolved. The Brazilian midfielder was charged in 2023 with allegedly violating FA Rule E5.
He was charged in a spot fix match for being booked. However, he has since proven innocent following a lengthy investigation.
In the process, the former Lyon midfielder was linked to his travels from London Stadium. Flamengo on the Brazilian side has emerged as a potential suitor for Pageta. Asked about his 27-year-old future, Potter didn’t dominate the move completely, but he believes the midfielder continues to commit to West Ham.
He states:
“Lucas is happy and devoted. He is an important figure in the dressing room and in the club and we love him. We want to help him enjoy his football.

“It was an incredible challenge for him to have to fight those claims on a personal level. It was a really tough time in his life and career. It was a credit to him, his family, and to everyone who supported him that he had passed.”
Paqueta issued a statement in the aftermath of the FA’s decision. He writes:
“I can’t say anything more at this point, but I want to express how grateful I am to God and how enthusiastic I am to play football with a smile on my face.

Paqueta was signed in 2022 by French side Lyon for a fee of around £51 million. Since then, he has made 120 appearances in London outfits and scored 18 goals, helping the Hammers win the Europa Congress League in 2023.
He still remains on a two-year contract with West Ham, with an option for another year. Paketa was strongly linked to the big-name move towards Manchester City in 2023, but shelves were placed on the shelves.
