Reuben Amorim is set to take charge of his first Full Manchester United season in the upcoming campaign, and the Portuguese coach already has big plans for his stint with the Red Devils
Reuben Amorim vows to re-establish Manchester United’s Premier League champions, aiming to stay with the club for 20 years. Amorim took over midway through last season, ending a disrupted campaign with United in 15th place and finishing their lowest Premier League finish.
However, the 40-year-old Portugal head coach is looking to change the team’s culture and is confident he can bring United back to the top.
Amorim has two years left on the contract and has extra years of options, but said he wants to manage United’s long term.
“I want to stay,” Amorim said. “I want to stay 20 years old. That’s my goal and I really believe it. Something is going to happen. That’s always the case.
“I’m lucky. I have a lot of luck in my career as a manager and my idea is to stay for years. But I know the outcome will determine that. Last season, I ran out of all the credits I had, but I’m ready to start anew.

“It was the same thing in sports. They said I was out in three months. They said there was a 3% chance that I would win a title in sports.
“I know the pressure is different, but I don’t want to change clubs. I want to bond with people and carry them around, so I’ve been there for five years. In my last year I was waiting for the right club.
Amorim asked why he was sure he could make United great again.

“I think that’s clear. And then money. We have money. We have money without the Champions League. So we have money and we have more money in the future. We do everything.
“You’re talking to Omar (Berada, CEO) and all of these people. They’re all strategizing to make more money in the future. That doesn’t matter.
“I think it’s obviously a culture. If we have a different culture, all of that, all of our pedigrees, all of these things, we can go back to our place – that’s clear.”
