Both Liverpool and Newcastle are trying to sign Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech, but are in talks with Alexander Isaac, the Reds’ number one transfer target
Crystal Palace has told Liverpool and Newcastle United to cough £50 million for England international defender Mark Guech.
The two clubs, already trapped in tense negotiations over toon striker Alexander Isaac, are also fighting Selhurst star Guech.
Newcastle missed Guehi 12 months ago and refused to meet the then-sought request price of £70 million, rising to £65 million.
Palace President Steve Parish plays hardball despite the cultured defender having only one year left on his contract and knocking back on offers for something new.
Liverpool has rejected a £40 million bid by Parish, but Newcastle is not ready to come up with a asking price to leave Guehi in Limbo again.

Same as his international teammate Ebebeki Eze. North London rivals Arsenal and Spurs are not ready to pay for his £68 million release clause and the palace being set up again.
Guehi has been wanted for years as Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham have been praised for being interested in recent seasons alongside Liverpool.
The 25-year-old, who began his career with Chelsea, played 155 times for the Eagles over four seasons, earning 23 caps and became an England regular.
Liverpool has already beaten Newcastle to Hugo Echicchique’s signature in this window and hopes to pit them in Guech amid tensions over Isaac’s two future clubs after snapping the French forward for £79 million.
Isaac told the club he wanted to consider his options, told him he didn’t travel with the Newcastle team for his pre-season tour in Asia, and instead trained himself at the facility at Old Club’s Real Sociedad this week.
Newcastle is said to value ISAK at £150 million and has already rejected Liverpool’s opening bid of around £110 million.
Magpie boss Eddie Howe admits that Isaac’s future is “not in his control.”
