Tottenham star James Madison was in tears during a preseason clash with Newcastle United on Sunday. The midfielder descended in a worrying way and immediately seemed to feel extreme discomfort.
Madison’s response will be even more concerning for Tottenham boss Thomas Frank. He was caught up in a rather harmless challenge with Anthony Elanga and did not fall to the grass anytime soon, but instead limped his hands over his head, as if to suggest that he knew the injury was serious.
Madison stepped in for over ten seconds, then left the pitch and returned again, falling in agony and grabbed her by the knee.
As Spurs players were 28 years old and crowded, a long medical halt continued, and Lucas Bergball looked devastated. He expressed serious concern, merely saying emotional farewell to his Tottenham career just minutes before he went down.
Three minutes after it went down, Madison reached over his face and reached for a hand. He, Frank and the rest of the teams are patiently waiting for details of the injury and how long the recovery timeline will last. However, the manager confirmed at a post-game press conference that he had issues with Madison, the same knee that he was injured in May.
Madison made 45 appearances in all competitions last season, but his campaign ended with a knee ligament injury sustained against Bodeau/Grimt in the Europa League semi-finals.
The set-off didn’t require surgery, but England International spent just under three months before returning to action as a replacement for its pre-season victory at Arsenal on Thursday. He was again painted underneath against the magpie, but his cameo lasted just over five minutes.
Frank said he featured goals from Brennan Johnson and Harvey Burns after a 1-1 draw on Sunday. “I am sure he was on the same knee as he was injured before.
“It looks like the crazy guy has a bad injury, but on the other side it seems like an incredible scene from his teammates for his son and a respect from the Newcastle player.
“After the first walkaround, the teammates gathered together and he was emotional, and it was the same thing in the changing room.
