Tottenham captain’s son Hyun Min shed tears at a press conference. He announced that he would leave the club this summer. The South Korean forward said he was in high-level talks with MLS’s side Los Angeles FC and “feeling that I have achieved everything I can” after winning the Europa League at Manchester United last season.
The 33-year-old made his Spurs debut in 2015, making his 333 Premier League appearances, scoring 127 times as the league’s 16th top scorer. He became the first Asian player to win the Golden Boots and shared the award in 2022/23 with Mohamed Sarah.
Ten years later in North London, my son stopped media briefings and said, “I wanted to say I decided to leave the club this summer before we started a press conference. With respect, the club is helping with this decision.
“It was the most difficult decision I made in my career. Such an amazing memory. It was very difficult to make a decision. I needed a new environment to push myself. It takes a little change – 10 years is a long time.
“I would like to thank all Spurs fans for giving me so much love, and I hope that bye is a good time and this is the right time to make that decision.

New head coach Thomas Frank was asked to respond to the decision.
“He’s a true Spurs legend in all respects and one of the best players to play in the Premier League. Finding the perfect timing is never easy, and once I come in from the side it’s a bit easier to finish high.”
His son is scheduled to launch Newcastle and friendly preseason friendly Spurs in Seoul on Sunday.
“If that’s Sony’s last game, it’s where he does it here in front of his home fans,” Frank said. “That could be a beautiful ending.”
When speaking to the media, my son described his announcement as “the most difficult thing I have done in my career.”
He then added: “I came to North London as a child. I came to London, a very young age, where a young boy didn’t speak English.
