Eddie Howe admits that he doesn’t know what the future holds for Alexander Isaac will be after Liverpool’s failed attempt to sign him. The Reds have been chasing Isaac for a few weeks and first contacted Newcastle last month. They cemented their interest in an official bid on Friday, but they saw their proposal be rejected immediately by the Magpie.
It was said that Liverpool had filed an offer in the £110 million area, but Newcastle quickly rejected their progress. Since then, it has been reported that a second bid will not approach as the Reds have been pulled out of negotiations. Newcastle has revealed that Isaac, who is eager to join Liverpool, has an unnegotiable price tag of £150 million.
The powers at St. James Park are reportedly furious for the way Liverpool handled the situation. Meanwhile, Isak travels to Spain and prepares for the new season using Real Sociedad’s training facility.
Hau was quized for an early morning update on Saturday and said he didn’t know what would happen next.
“I noticed my bid yesterday and realized that I was turned down before I heard it,” explained the Newcastle boss.
“The British people are dealing with the situation. They don’t know what will happen next. From our perspective, they support Alex in all respects.
“My wish is that he’s wearing a Newcastle shirt again. I know where he’s (actual training in Sociedad) really through the media. From that point of view, it’s difficult to go to all sorts of details. The situation is far from ideal and very complicated.
“In terms of trying to confuse players, from my point of view, we can only talk about our actions. We try to do things the right way.
“Signing is always complicated. We’re trying to do what we think is right. We can’t talk about other clubs. We can’t say anything.”
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will return to Isaac at a later date, but his future is still in the air. He remains tied to Newcastle until the summer of 2028, but his head is turned by the Reds’ interest and is clearly unstable.
The forward declared himself unavailable on Newcastle’s continued tour of Far East, citing thigh injuries. When he returns to the British coast next week, it is not clear whether he will return to training with the rest of his teammates.
ISAK scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season, helping Newcastle win the Carabao Cup and book his upcoming campaign’s Champions League position.
