Manchester United opposed fundraising by cashing in Cobby Mineau after a “crazy” plan, according to former Chief Scout Mick Brown.
Red Devils reportedly were willing to receive bids from a 20-year-old child amidst the pressure to comply with PSR and FFP.
However, Brown argues that it is no longer on the agenda.
“There are a lot of players that Man United wants to remove,” he told Football Insider.
“From what I understand, Kobbie Mainoo is not one of them after a change of heart.
“The people the club is trying to raise money, including Garnacho, Sancho and others who have been excluded from preseason training.
“In my opinion, they should never consider letting go of Kobbie Mainoo. That was a crazy idea.
“After he didn’t sign that new contract, it seemed he had decided he wanted to leave.
“The interest wasn’t as heavy as they expected, but I don’t complain about it.
“From what I’ve heard, he’ll be happy to stay in the new season and hopes he’ll become a bigger part of the team as Amorim uses him more regularly.”
