Liverpool reportedly decided not to make a second bid to Alexander Isaac after the initial offer was turned down. The Reds rejected the add-on in addition to the opening £110 million bid rejected by Newcastle on Friday.
The development followed intense speculation over potential movements. Isaac, 25, was left at home for a Singapore preseason tour in Newcastle, and his absence denounced thigh issues. He then shook the club chief and informed him that he wanted to leave.
Newcastle is said to want £150 million for the Swedish striker. It not only represents a new UK transfer record, but also makes Isak the third most expensive footballer in history.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions do not meet their ratings on their second offer. As Isaac is said to be “unstable” following Liverpool’s advances, they are now ready to wait whether their rivals are willing to keep players unhappy with their books.
Currently, Arne Slot and FSG may be leaving the transaction completely. The Transfer Window was closed at 7pm on Monday, September 1st, with Liverpool playing three league games.
During the Saga, Isaac trained alone at his former club, Real Sociedad. He joined Newcastle in 2022 on a £60m move from the LA La Liga side since scoring 62 times in 109 club games.
FSG has already spent a lot of money on this transfer window and has signed Florian Wirtz on a deal with Bayer Leverkusen. Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez also arrived in Merseyside.
Another factor in Newcastle’s unwillingness to sell appears to have been unable to secure a long-term alternative to ISAK. They now face a fight from Manchester United, as they missed Ekichike, and RB Leipzig is pushing Benjamin Sesco forward.
