Liverpool is linked to the move of Newcastle United’s Alexander Isaac, and Swedish International allegedly asked them to leave the Magpie this summer
Former Liverpool star Stan Colliemore has flipped Newcastle striker Alexander Isaac this summer to switch to Anfield. The Reds have been heavily linked to the Swedish striker’s move for weeks, but it seemed to chill their interest when Newcastle refused to do business early in the window.
In response, Liverpool pivoted on Hugo Ekitique and signed the French forward in a £79 million deal. But now it appears Isaac is looking for an exit, and the 25-year-old tells Newcastle he wants to explore his options.
So the doors are set to reopen and Liverpool are attacked. ISAK opted out of Newcastle’s pre-season Asian tour, and his future will be sorted out before anything that could potentially be the departure of the UK transfer record from St. James Park.
The magpies are reportedly holding their ground and claim a valuation of over £150 million if they consider selling him. Liverpool, coupled with Darwin Nunes and Federico Chiesa’s anticipated exit and growing interest in Luis Diaz, is believed to still target new attackers before the transfer window closes, with Isaac still maintaining their best target.
Colliemore, who scored 35 goals for Liverpool, is sure the move will go further. “We can see Alexander Isaac leaving Newcastle to join Liverpool. “I think this has been going on for more than 12 months. I think our expectations from Newcastle are that the other clubs will bid next season.
“Many fans want him to sell overseas, but that doesn’t work that way. It’s very difficult for the club if the player says they’re going to down the tools unless they go to this particular club.”
Adding Ekitike means that Liverpool’s total summer spending exceeds £265 million, and if ISAK arrives, the overall investment could exceed £400 million. Colliemore explained the reasons behind the club’s aggressive spending.
He continued: “I know that with Liverpool, there’s probably room for Diaz and Nunes to go. But at this point, if they hand Isaac to the line, you have Diaz, Gakupo, Nunes, Sarah, Wirtz, Ekichike and potential Isaac.
“So, if Liverpool stays at the top of the Premier League, if they continue to win the Champions League, and more importantly, they know they’re going to win the domestic league the way Manchester City did, and Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal have to accept that they’re continuing to think about the franchise. They had to do the same.”
