The former Arsenal, West Ham and Nottingham Forest defender had to go to hospital after being seriously injured in a preseason friendly match against Bromley’s Millwall
Former Arsenal star Carl Jenkinson needed oxygen and was taken to hospital after suffering a friendly, terrifying injury before a season. The defender was stretching out of the field while playing against Bromley and Millwall after a dislocation of his hips.
Jenkinson, 33, who was also featured in West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Charlton, suffered after trying to prevent Millwall’s attacks on Saturday. In the 68th minute, the One Cap wonder protruded his foot to challenge the opposition winger, but worsened with Collison.
The former Newcastle Jets star stayed on the floor, feeling the pain and waving to the bench for assistance. Jenkinson received the gas and air before being removed from the field as the game suffered a long stop.
Referring to a running pause, Bromley provided updates during the game. They said: “Karl Jenkinson is growing after being treated for a long spell on the pitch. We all want a quick recovery, Jenko.”
The Ravens continue doing that in another social media post after the game, indicating the severity of the injury. “We’re all behind you, Jenko,” they posted.

Bromley boss Andy Woodman, formerly the goalkeeper coach at Arsenal, provided details after the game. “It looks like he’s dislocated his hips,” he said.
“It’s a tragedy. He was a really bright player for us before the season. It’s a real blow. He’s going to hospitals trying to get it back. His dislocated hips aren’t great.
“Getting up to Jenko, he’ll come back sooner than later. We hope he’s all the best.
Jenkinson joined Bromley last September and played 13 games in his first season with the club after a spell in Australia. The veteran extended his stay with the London side when he signed the New Deal in April.
Jenkinson played 70 times for Arsenal after signing the club on a £1 million contract from Charlton. Bromley’s ace, along with Alex Oclade Chamberlain, Kerian Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Willshea, were featured in the famous announcement of Arsenal’s new contract, but they struggled to secure a place on the north London side.
