Lucas Paketa has been exempt from fraud after the West Ham United midfielder was charged with violating the free agency rules surrounding Spotfix. Almost two years after the FA began investigating Brazil International, Paketa was determined to have fallen fouls in FA Rule E5 and F3.
Paketa was at risk of a lifetime ban if the former Lilyn star found guilty, and it was said that the crime occurred between November 2022 and August 2023. However, an independent regulatory commission has found four accusations against Paketa as “unproven.”
In a statement posted on Cliub’s website, West Ham said: “West Ham United can confirm that the independent regulatory board has cleared Lucas Paketa accusations of misconduct committed against him by the Football Association on suspicion of violation of FA Rule E5.
Paketa himself added: “From the first day of this investigation, I have maintained my innocence against these very serious accusations. I can’t say anything more at this point, but I want to express how grateful I am to God and my eagerness to play football with a smile on my face. Everything.”
A statement released by the FA stated, “The independent regulatory board has proven accusations of misconduct against Lucas Spaqueta of West Ham United, suspected of having no proven violation of FA Rule E5. Lucas Spaqueta was allegedly suspected of FA Rule E5 in December 202222 in the club’s Villetta city, Leeds United on May 21, 2023.
“It is said that Lucas Paketa has attempted to directly influence the progress, actions or occurrence of these matches by intentionally trying to receive cards from the judge for the inappropriate purpose of one or more people to influence the betting market in order to profit from the betting.
“The Regulatory Commission has proven a fraudulent claim against a player whose alleged violation of FA Rule F3. Lucas Paqueta has been charged with two violations of FA Rule F3 in connection with his obligation to respond to the FA investigation and comply with his obligation to provide information.
“Lucas Paketa refused to file charges against him, but the Regulatory Commission found that following the hearing, which will determine appropriate sanctions for these violations at the earliest opportunity. The FA is awaiting written reasons for the Regulatory Commission’s decision to file a written charge.
