Liverpool agreed to a deal with Bayern Munich to sell Wataway Columbia International after the German champion improved his second offer for the 28-year-old
Louis Diaz is leaving Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Tokyo after the Reds sold the Wataway Colombian to win a £65.5 million contract with Bayern Munich.
Diaz, 28, has been granted permission to leave the Japanese club’s training camp to seal off his 12-month move to the German giant.
The Reds’ seventh issue calls for a move to Munich after informing the Reds’ hierarchy that they want to leave this summer. His decision came after the club refused to enter contract negotiations.
Diaz and his representatives have believed he was relatively low-paid in Merseyside since his arrival in Merseyside on a £37 million move from Porto in January 2022.
Diaz initially wanted to stay at the club. There he was a key figure in his Premier League victory last season. However, the KOP boss hated to start a discussion about improved deals given that he was still on the contract for two years, and given that he officially saw them departing following the decision that led to frustration with Diaz and his representative.

Diaz continued his Asian preseason tour and missed out on a friendly Liverpool 4-2 defeat on Saturday with AC Milan. Arne Slot confirmed after the match that Diaz was absent due to his uncertain future, but claimed he was well trained.
Following the loss against Milan, Slot was asked whether both the 28-year-old and his teammate Darwinnes’ absence were related to potential transfers.
“In the situation with Lucho, that was the case,” the Liverpool boss told reporters. “There have been a lot of rumors around it lately and I can’t get into it. But he’s really trained with us and we’ve decided not to play him yet for now.
“In Darwin’s situation, he also trained very well and played some good games for us this preseason already. He was injured so we didn’t want to take risks. It was the same as Wataru’s ending and trained with us, but we didn’t want to take risks with him either.
Liverpool declined to open a Bayern bid worth £58.5 million last week. But Vincent Company’s side is determined to sign Diaz and is now ready to get their man. Bayern improved its £65.5 million offer over the weekend, and Liverpool is now accepting it.
Bayern boss Company spoke to Diaz on a recent video call and outlined Diaz’s plans. The German giants were desperate to sign the advance after missing top target Florian Wiltz, a race that Liverpool won. They have also faced a considerable period of time without Jamal Musiala due to injuries.
Diaz will leave Anfield, who scored 41 goals in Liverpool’s 148 appearances.
