Arsenal 3-2 Newcastle: The Gunners overcome a disastrous start at Cinagpore and attempted to see their Premier League rivals with Mikel Merino and Martin Odegard in their goals
Arsenal saw Newcastle United 3-2 in Singapore, making it their first Asian preseason tour victory. Viktor Gyoker was paraded before the match, but his Swedish colleague Anthony Elanga won the early opener for Magpies.
Gunner turned the game into his mind through Mikel Merino’s strike and his own goal from Alex Murphy. Jacob Murphy once again went from range for Newcastle midway through the second half, and was equal again.
Academy alumnus Max Douman scored a late penalty converted by Captain Martin Odegard to secure the victory for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal is pitching them against K-League XI, when Newcastle’s next clash.
Here are all the stories in Singapore:
Gyoker gains insight
Even before the kickoff, all the lectures were dominated by the stories of two talented Swedish frontmen. Viktor Gyokeres is the name of the lips of Arsenal fans, and a clash with Newcastle broke out the day after a sensational deal with the Sports Lisbon striker was confirmed.
The showdown was a little too early for Gyoker to debut for his new employer, but he was in Singapore and wanted to receive insight into how his new teammates would be run.

ISAK is not available
And while Arsenal fans first got a glimpse of new advancements before the game, Newcastle was not himself in the form of Alexander Isaac. The former Real Sociedad has been removed from Eddie Howe’s team due to a preseason tour in Asia after submitting a request to leave the club.
As it stands, it is not clear to know whether he will leave or where he will go if he actually leaves St. James Park. But for the time being, he will obviously be a mistake.
Elanga enjoys the start of her dreams
Ironically, he was another Swedish forward who actually stole the headlines as Newcastle signed £55 million summer Elanga and gave him the lead within five minutes of the opening.
Kieran Tripper and Sandro Tonali are key to the breakthrough, with the pair making a productive exchange on their right flank. The Italians chose Elanga. He scooped up the somewhat unconventional ball house through the post.
After six goals from Nottingham Forest in the Premier League in the previous period, Elanga certainly aims to make more of his upcoming campaigns – and he’s going the right way about it.
Merino appears on magpies
Arsenal now has a very decisive center forward, but they still needed a bit of help from last season’s emergency striker Mikel Merino. The Spaniard, signed as a midfielder, scored nine goals in the offense last season.
And he picked up from where he left off with a great finish in Singapore. Merino himself won the ball in the half of Newcastle, with Torosad and Hubbard swapping passes.
I chose the Merino back heels in Germany.
It will interfere with the creator
When it comes to goalscoring, there’s pressure from his shoulders, so Hubbard might now be a creative force. And there are already signs of the event. It was his amazing back heels that opened up Merino’s opening chance.
It was also his evil cross that Newcastle defender Murphy went through his net. It’s definitely early on, but it’s already very exciting to see Arsenal’s new exterior attack enter a fresh campaign.
Raya was beaten from range
Newcastle finally found himself on the level condition, just before the time mark passing through Jacob Murphy. The Wideman picked up the ball at the edge of the area and fired a low effort into the bottom corner.
Another Champions League campaign on Newcastle’s agenda will require Murphy again. And if he can expand on the excellent form he found last season, he would be useful.
A slow penalty secures a victory
After missing a penalty in a previous preseason tie with AC Milan, there was no threat of Martin Odegard repeating this time. And while the Norwegians have won the net to secure victory, many praise has to go to the youth Max Dowman.
The academy alumni were featured as a second half of the alternative, showing many promises. It was his tricky run to see Jollington drop him off in the penalty area.
Following that successful cameo, Douman certainly wants more opportunities over the season.
