Marcus Rashford joins new Barcelona teammates on the Asian preseason tour, with Manchester United lender appearing for the first time against Vissel Kobe in Japan
They say it is the biggest humiliation a footballer can experience. Once you reach the pitch, you’ll be replaced by becoming vulgar. So why did Hansiflic bring Marcus Rashford for 30 minutes on his Barcelona debut?
The 27-year-old Rashford completed an in-season loan move from Manchester United mid-week, and was the first to appear since his exile at Old Trafford. Forward’s forwarding – including the £26 million option to buy – has been confirmed in time for him to fly to Japan alongside Barca’s other teams as he embarks on a preseason tour in Asia. The first was a clash with Japan’s Side Bissel Kobe in the friendly match that was first suspended before the organizers scramble to make it happen.
Rashford was named the bench with a flick before the Germans changed the entire lineup at halftime. United lenders showed their promise in a 30-minute cameo. He played a particularly important role, especially when fellow new signature Roony Bardghji reached the scoresheet in Barcelona’s 3-1 victory.
After defender Jofre Torrents took ownership on the left, Rashford gathered the ball and played a fully weighted pass to Robert Lewandowski. Barkka’s No. 9 then chose Bardghji on the right as the former Copenhagen hot shot produced an impressive first finish.
A few seconds later, Rashford escaped. England’s international and torrents were replaced by Barcelona’s third goal scorers, Gerald Martin and Pedro Fernandez, in the 77th minute.

After the match, Flick was asked about his decision to carry both Rashford and the torrent after 30 minutes each.
“Rashford isn’t playing that much, and I wanted to give Gerald Martin 15 minutes because I was playing after the injury,” explained the Barcelona manager. Obviously, this makes perfect sense for players who were members of Manchester United’s “Bomb Force” training just seven days ago and who made the first team use the club’s Carrington training ground when they got home.
In the case of Flick, these early days are to speed up Rashford and help him adapt slowly, but certainly, to what he wants. Do it right, it is the winner of another match in the collection of Barca’s stars. Cover him with pre-season friendliness and then turn him off? It’s not a problem for the manager or his new player.

The flick was the “important” reason that Rashford joined the Laliga champions and led Barcelona to three trophies in their first season. “He was another important factor in my participation in Barca,” the 27-year-old revealed during his announcement.
“My conversation with him was very positive. He proved to be one of the top coaches… he led the young team to such a successful season and returned to the preseason where he hopes for more.”
Rashford’s teammates are already looking forward to playing with him. “Rashford is a very talented player,” Lewandowski told Japanese reporters.
“We played Manchester United two years ago and he was in great shape. He can help us and play in a variety of positions.”
Next Balka will be friendly to Seoul in the South Korean capital on Thursday. Rashford will be reuniting with former unit teammate Jesse Lingard, who is captain of the K-League Giants.
