Liverpool refused a £58.5 million opening bid for Bayern Munich’s Louis Diaz, but the Bundesliga champion returned to the negotiation table with an improved offer
Liverpool had signed a contract with Bayern Munich after the German giant raised its bid to £65.5 million. Diaz, 28, has been granted permission to leave the club’s Far East tour, and everything is ready to complete the Anfield exit.
Columbia International is pushing for a move to Munich after the club refused to negotiate a contract and informed the Reds class that they wanted to leave this summer. Diaz and his representatives believed he was relatively low paying in Merseyside after the new contract for over 12 months, but the KOP boss disliked paying.
Diaz continued his Asian preseason tour and missed out on a friendly Liverpool 4-2 defeat on Saturday with AC Milan. Arne Slot confirmed after the match that Diaz was absent due to his uncertain future, but claimed he was well trained.

Following the loss against Milan, Slot was asked whether both the 28-year-old and his teammate Darwinnes’ absence were related to potential transfers.
“In the situation with Lucho, that was the case,” the Liverpool boss told reporters. “There have been a lot of rumors around it lately and I can’t get into it. But he’s really trained with us and we’ve decided not to play him yet for now.
“In Darwin’s situation, he also trained very well and played some good games for us this preseason already. He was injured so we didn’t want to take risks. It was the same as Wataru’s ending and trained with us, but we didn’t want to take risks with him either.
