Morecambe has been trapped at the root of a major crisis following his relegation from the football league last summer and is now banned from getting on the pitch.
The National League has confirmed that Morecambe has stopped amid the grip of the financial crisis. The department’s organising committee confirmed the decision in a statement Monday amid growing issues with Lancashire costumes.
“The National League Compliance and Licensing Committee held a reconference this afternoon to discuss ongoing concerns surrounding Morecam Football Club and compliance with National League rules,” the statement said.
“There has been another debate over the club’s ability to fulfill its financial obligations for the 2025/2026 season.
“It has been determined that further sanctions must be imposed by halting the club’s membership immediately. The club will continue to receive an embargo ahead of the new season. Morecam Football Club will also be removed from the National League Cup next season.
“The committee will meet again on Wednesday, August 20th to determine whether the outstanding items are satisfied and determine the club’s ability to maintain membership in the competition.”

The suspension means Morecam will be played until the next meeting of the committee, including supplies for the towns of Boston United, Blackley Town, Scunthorpe, Altrinchum and Aldershot. The issue revolves around ongoing financial issues and multiple failed acquisition attempts.
The Punjab Warriors and Johnny Cato were thought to be approaching the deal just to write a statement that the current owner, Jason Whittingham, was in the process of writing a statement that suggested they had been silent. “Bond Group Investment is working with a consortium led by Johnny Cato in an effort to acquire a majority stake in Morecam Football Club.
“Consultations are ongoing, but it is clear that the ongoing negative press statements affecting the club are giving them the source of concern and suspension. In addition to this, Bond Group is ready to sell on its standards, in addition to that, representatives of Punjabi warriors and on their behalf.
“Despite many attempts over the past week to reach out to Punjab Warriors’ offers and willingness to complete, we have not heard from them. We are now urging Punjab Warriors to contact us in an effort to complete the sale.”
Morecambe has been on sale for nearly three years. Players and staff were only paid a third of their latest wages, but the upcoming clash with the friendly Barrow with the upcoming pre-season was cancelled. Morecambe was demoted from League 2 last season.
