England star Chloe Kelly apologized on social media following an X-rate performance on microphone during today’s Homecoming Parade for the Lioness. In the incredible scene, the team traveled by open-top buses along the mall, with about 65,000 fans taking part in the celebration.
Supporters lined up the route before heading for the stage in front of Queen Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace. There, the players were interviewed and spoke to Mike’s fans as well. The 27-year-old couldn’t be held back when Kelly took her turn.
“Pressure? What kind of pressure?” she cried out loud. “It feels so good… I’d like to thank everyone who came out to support us. It’s so f*****g special.”
The BBC won the moment live, and presenter Alex Scott was forced to apologise to viewers. Kelly later took her to social media and offered her own apology, admitting that she was caught up in the moment.
“Oh my emotions made me better,” she wrote on Instagram, sharing her X post. She added:
Just a while later, she uploaded a more positive post. The winner’s medal from Switzerland is painted around the neck, with Buckingham Palace in the background. She added the caption: “I love England.”
Arsenal star Kelly turns out to be one of the heroes of the England campaign and scored the winning goal in the 119th minute against Italy in the semi-finals. After her penalty was saved, she delved into the rebound and set up a final clash with Spain.
In the conflict she came as a replacement and offered Alesia Russo’s late equalizer cross. She then homed a winning spot kick with a penalty shootout, sealing back-to-back Euro titles on Salina Wigman’s side.
