Brian Mbemo completed a £65 million move from Brentford to Manchester United earlier this month, but has yet to reach the Red Devils pitch ahead of the new season
Brian Mbemo will have to wait for Manchester United’s debut after missing out on a US tour opening victory. Signed by Brentford, Mbeumo was not part of United’s team as he defeated West Ham 2-1 at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium at a cost that rose to £71 million.
Reuben Amorim revealed that Mbeumo was behind the other United teams in terms of his preseason fitness program, so he wasn’t featured against West Ham.
Mbeumo will also not be taking part in United’s second tour game against Bournemouth at Chicago’s Soldiers Field on Wednesday, but he will build up fitness ahead of the start of a new season.
However, Amorim hopes that Mbeumo is ready to feature in United’s final tour game, facing Everton at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta the following weekend.
“Brian is starting slowly,” Amorim said. “He’s not going to play in the next game. I hope Brian will be in the last game (USA). He’s training now, so we’ll see.”

Amorim also confirmed that Joshua Zilky was recovering from the “small problem,” but Nucea Mazrawie lacked West Ham’s victory due to the knock. Amorim gives three weeks to make a decision on his side for United’s season opening match against Arsenal.
Looking for his thoughts on the game, the Portuguese coach added:
“Many midfielders stop by to defend, and the defenders start running. So you can’t control it like in the past. Just as you know they’re building on four. These little things need to be prepared for the game, but they need to understand every situation and try to do it during training.”

“It’s a strong team, you have to prepare all the players, you don’t have a lot of weeks or a lot of games to prepare all the teams. It can change and you have players who can play in the first game that you saw in the second half.
Before United’s first match of the season against Arsenal, they also face further friendly matches with Everton and Fiorentina.
