England will be awarded the celebratory event held in London on Tuesday after overcoming Spain in the Euro 2025 final. The match ended with a 1-1 draw, with Salina Wigman’s side ultimately scoring the victory following a penalty shootout.
The UK went out to revenge against the Spanish team after losing to them in the World Cup final two years ago. However, they were late midway through the first half when Mariona Caldentety fired the ball past Hannah Hampton. Laiones then pulled out the level 12 minutes after half the courtesy of the strike from Areciarsso. Both teams pushed the winners against them, but neither of them were able to find a second goal before the extra time. And the added period proved that players were not only preparing for spot kicks, but also fruitless. Hampton ultimately made two penalty saves on a shootout, and Chloe Kelly shattered them with a winning kick.
