England defender Lucy Bronze revealed that he played all of Euro 2025 with the tibia that destroyed Tibia before becoming champion in a penalty shootout victory over Spain. The Barcelona star, who made the 140th cap for the Lioness on a historic night in Switzerland, played 105 minutes before being injured.
However, the matter was unrelated to her broken tibia, which was kept secret throughout the tournament, revealing the moment Leah Williamson unlocked the trophy. Bronze tears apart for a moment from the celebration and is asked about the injuries she picked up. It shared that she was minor compared to the pain she has been dealing with all the month.
“I actually fractured my tibia and played the entire tournament, but then I hurt my knee with my other leg,” Bronze informed the BBC.
“That’s why I got a lot of praise from the girls after the Swedish game. I was in a lot of pain. If that’s what it takes to play in the UK, that’s what I do. It’s very painful.”
Throughout the tournament, the 33-year-old added: “I mean, we never lost faith in ourselves. There was a lot of noise on the outside. We got stuck together and digged deep, to win the penalty.

“Winning a penalty is an amazing feeling, but losing a penalty is a scary way to lose a final. I know that a lot of these girls in Barca have missed the penalty. It’s hard to be there a few years ago.
“This year, it was for the UK. Today we showed resilience. We believed in everyone that no matter what people say about you, we believe in ourselves.”
The bronze is called “tough” by the people of the English camp, and her revelation explains exactly why. She has proven once again a warrior and falls into the record book as one of the greatest things ever for Lioness.
Lioness boss Sarina Wigman summed up the bronze early in the tournament, saying, “That resilience, that fight. The only way you can get her off the pitch is in your wheelchair.”
It wasn’t the wheelchair that drove Chloe Kelly and Hannah Hampton to be penalty shootout heroes.
