Lioness star Bethmead’s dad sent a dull message to England critics after holding the European Championship. The forward played a key role in the team that defeated Spain in a penalty to revenge the 2023 World Cup defeat against the same side.
An epic penalty shootout victory landed another silverware on the Lioness after Salina Wigman’s side came from behind at normal times. Fans will flock to London tomorrow to celebrate with players. The players set out to parade through the city before meeting Prime Minister Kiel on Downing Street. But despite the surprising results, not everyone wants to praise Lioness and luxuriously lavish it on.
Former Premier League football player Joey Burton, an outspoken critic of women’s football, was posted on X.
Although he does not directly deal with Burton, Mead’s father, Richard, has sparked criticism. He writes to X:
Mead gets caught up in a Basel penalty drama. The Arsenal star was ordered to take her kick after she slipped and accidentally made two contacts with the ball. Her second attempt was saved.
She then stated: “You can see how emotional we are all tonight. It was very incredible. We delved into this tournament so deeply and got rewarded for winning.
“We were behind most games in these knockout phases, making a comeback, showing resilience, showing our characters, destroying it, winning. I wasn’t going to slide the ball twice and touch it.
Chloe Kelly hit home the penalty after winning a 3-1 shootout. The forward previously supported Alesia Russo’s equalizer and canceled Mariona Caldentei’s 25-minute goal.
England reached the final three major tournament finals, winning the Euro 2022 after beating Germany at Wembley. This is the first time a senior England team has won a massive football tournament from home soil.
