Alexander Isaac was able to make his long-awaited Liverpool debut in a Champions League match against Atletico Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday after training hard to get a match fit.
Virgil van Dick argued that Alexander Isaac was an important signature for Liverpool in the summer transfer window and not a luxurious addition. The defending Premier League champions headed the list by blowing over £450 million on new players in the summer.
Isaac joined from Newcastle on the deadline day after a long and laborious story for £125 million. He joined Hugo Echicicke, Florian Wiltz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremy Fripon, Giovanni Leoni, Armin Pess and Freddie Woodman at the club.
Arne Slot oversees an almost complete overhaul of the offense that won the title in his debut season, leaving Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott, and Diogo Jota tragically dies in a car accident. They launched their campaign with four consecutive victories to sit at the top of the Premier League without the help of ISAK.
The Swedish striker is fighting to reach full fitness after barely training in the summer during a strike in Newcastle. Ahead of Liverpool’s first Champions League match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, Van Dik barked on the proposal that Isaac was only added to the already stacked team.

“It’s not really an addition, it’s an alternative,” Van Dick said. “Players with a lot of quality left us. They were important to us and we had to replace them.
“We don’t have control over the price tag, and there’s always a discussion about it, and it creates pressure, but it depends on him and us not to talk about it.
Isaac sat with Slovenia from a Sweden 2-2 draw during an international break before failing from the bench in Kosovo’s defeat. He was removed from Liverpool’s team that scored a 1-0 victory at Burnley over the weekend, and while slots still looked at fitness to meet their requirements, he made the team face Atleti.
The Liverpool captain asked what impression did Isaac make? “Very good. Very enthusiastic, the quality is already seen. It’s just positive. From the pitch, we’re having a conversation.
“It’s about getting the fit as quickly as possible and understanding how to train, press and set of pieces. It was a good week for him. Let’s take a look at tomorrow.”
Isaac burned the bridge at St. James Park last season after winning the net 27 times for Newcastle. Van Dijk looks forward to how he settles down in the red shirt.
“He’s a clinical finisher, headlines, left, right, corners, he’s a perfect striker at this point,” he said of Isaac. “You can say the same thing about Hugo. They’re a little different, but not so much. They both have so many qualities, very comfortable with the ball, and they can link players to have a pace.
“That’s what modern strikers are asking. Both are a handful. They’re by my side. They can show it to the other party.”
