a The day before, when Christian Purisic is likely to return to the US national team field, manager Mauricio Pockettino repeated the summer flaps between him, with America’s biggest star in the past.
“We all read the situation differently, so we made mistakes for a while,” Pockettino said ahead of his friendship with South Korea on Friday. “The most important thing is when you’re an intelligent person, if we want to move on and do the right thing, I want to be intelligent.”
The midfielder, who turned 27 on September 18th, skipped the Conca Cuff Gold Cup in June to rest after two long seasons with AC Milan. He offered to play for a pair of best friends in June. Pockettino said he wanted to keep the same group together, saying, “I’m the head coach. I’m not a mannequin.”
Pulisic’s decision sparked criticism from former players, including Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey, the US career scoring leaders who sparked a rushing response from Pulisic and his current teammates.
“I think they’re chasing the check,” current American winger Tim Wear said in an episode of the Paramount+ series “Prithic,” released in mid-August. “To be honest, they feel really evil because they are players and know what it is like when you get bashed. And they are the same guys who wave your hand and try to be friendly with you at the end of the day.”
Weir confronted his criticism on Thursday.
“100%, don’t regret what I said, but I’m now completely focused on positive things,” he said. “I’ve left all the negative energy out of the window. I think it’s important to shift our focus to what we’re doing as a group and what this team is doing, and how we run the game to the next level to run our performances and prepare for the World Cup.”
Pulisic refused criticism in the TV series.
“It’s the most annoying thing,” he said, “And for me, the biggest police officers of all time, especially when all the critics want to say, “They didn’t want it, they didn’t have a heart. We’ll fight that day and die in that field.” ”
Pulisic has not spoken to the media during US availability in New Jersey this week before Saturday’s game.
“Christian is happy to be here,” Pockettino said. “Of course, he’s an important player for us.”
