Chelsea bosses have already identified their dream candidate to replace Liam Rosenior in the Stamford Bridge dugout, according to reports. Rosenior continues to fight to save his skin after a disastrous five-game losing streak in the Premier League. At this rate, the Blues will fall to seventh place, five points behind the Champions League qualification spot.
Chelsea’s continued poor performance has reportedly forced Chelsea leaders into an emergency meeting, bringing forward their original plan to assess Rosenior’s future at the end of next season. There is a real possibility that he will be sacked ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final game against Leeds United, but a final decision has not yet been made.
The former Strasbourg manager signed a six-and-a-half year contract when he took over in January, meaning Chelsea will have to pay millions in compensation if the trigger is pulled.
Nevertheless, the west London powers-that-be are already considering potential successors, with one name reportedly standing out above the rest.
According to TEAMtalk, they have named Julian Nagelsmann as their “dream” option to replace Rosenior if he is sacked. The German national team manager is said to be highly rated by Bruko and other decision-making executives at the club.
Nagelsmann’s detention period is until after this summer’s World Cup, and if his contract is not renewed, Chelsea could appoint him without compensation.
The report adds that Blues bosses may wait until the end of the season before deciding whether to relieve Rosenior of his duties.
It’s not just the results that will be evaluated, but also how the team responds to the current slump and whether there are any signs of progress.
Chelsea suffered another devastating blow on Tuesday night with a lopsided defeat to Brighton, ending their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

After the final whistle, an irate coach Rosenior launched into a scathing attack on his players, stating that their collective play was unacceptable.
He added: “It’s indefensible, the performance tonight, the way we conceded goals, the number of games we lost, the lack of intensity from the team.
“Something has to change dramatically now. There was no professionalism there. It’s a really difficult night. It was the most difficult night not just here, at this great football club, but of my career.”
“Some of the things I witnessed today I never want to see again. I take responsibility and I’ve always said that, but I think after tonight the players need to look in the mirror and see what they’ve put in.
“We lost 80 percent of our duels. We didn’t win with headers. Two of the goals came when we were able to head the ball. If you make these mistakes and lack engagement at any level, you don’t win football matches.”
“I saw the commitment three days ago against Manchester United. Even though we lost the game, the performance was very, very good. Today was the complete opposite in every way. That’s what disappointed me the most.”
