Manchester City star Antoine Semenyo has abandoned his challenge against Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s title showdown.
Josep Guardiola’s side have reduced the gap in the Premier League summit to just six points. They also have a game in hand, meaning City’s title aspirations are firmly back in their hands.
Semenyo believes there could not be a better time to welcome Arsenal to the Etihad, with Mikel Arteta’s side having won just one of their last five games. This includes their most recent Premier League game, a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth.

“We’ve been in good form in the last few games, probably playing the best football we’ve played in the second half of the season,” he told Sky Bet’s In the Mixer.
“So I think it’s a good time to play them. Where they were down, we came back up, so it’s going to be interesting.”
Semenyo, 26, has played a key role in keeping City’s title challenges alive since his £64m move from Bournemouth in January. The Ghana international made 19 appearances for his new club, scoring eight goals and providing three assists, including key contributions against Tottenham, Leeds and Nottingham Forest.
He also claimed that he feels the team is fully prepared for the most important game of the season – even if he is trying to downplay its magnitude. “Honestly, we were excited,” Semenyo added. “I feel like I’m ready for Sunday’s game. It’s going to be an important game. Maybe to decide the title? I don’t know.

“But it’s going to be a tough game, don’t get me wrong, they obviously lost to Bournemouth but they’re still top of the table.
“We’re still chasing them, so we have to respect them in that sense.”
