aCristian Romero was spotted walking the streets of London, leaving fans relieved after it was reported that he had injured the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
The Argentine defender was seen wearing a sweatshirt and brown shorts with white trainers, but what most drew attention was undoubtedly the fact that he had nearly his entire leg covered in bandages – the one he injured while playing for Tottenham on Sunday, April 12, in the defeat to Sunderland.
Cuti walks calmly in the face of provocative comments
A video shared on TikTok by @1echee shows the 27-year-old defender walking with a limp while using his cell phone. But another detail that didn’t go unnoticed was his reaction to comments meant to stir things up.
“Good luck in the championship,” a voice could be heard, referring to Tottenham’s precarious situation as they remain in the relegation zone in 18th place with 30 points.
Despite this, Romero continued on, undeterred or reacting to the provocation.
Round 32 of the Premier League was already a difficult game for Spurs, who lost 1-0, but Romero’s injury added to the pain.
In the 64th minute, Kuti tried to clear the ball in defence, was pushed by opposition forward Brian Brobbey, and was hit in the knee by his own goalkeeper Antonin Kinski.
After undergoing a medical examination, it was determined that the player had suffered a lateral ligament injury in his right foot. The injury will take six to eight weeks to heal, so he won’t be able to finish the season with the Spurs, but he should be fit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
Argentina enters the tournament as defending champions with the clear goal of retaining the title they won in 2022. Argentina will play their first match against Algeria on June 16th at Kansas City Stadium. They will then face Austria on Monday, June 22nd and Jordan on Saturday, June 27th at Dallas Stadium.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have their sights set on their next Premier League match, which they will be playing without Kuti.
Tottenham vs. Brighton: Saturday, April 18, 12:30pm ET at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Wolves v Tottenham: Saturday 25th April, Molineux Stadium 10am ET. Aston Villa vs. Tottenham: Saturday, May 2, 7:30am ET at Villa Park.
The season ends on May 24th.
